Code Enforcement Officer
The City of Cherry Hills Village is seeking detail-oriented, community-focused individuals for the position of Code Enforcement Officer in the Police Department. This important role upholds City codes and ordinances, enhances the quality of life in the community, promotes public safety, and fosters positive relationships with the public. The hourly salary range is $33.26- $44.90 ($69,177- $93,388 annual base salary). Standard work hours are ten hour days, Sunday through Wednesday, with occasional evening and/or holidays as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas within the City to identify potential violations of municipal codes, zoning ordinances, and property maintenance regulations including active patrol of City streets, parks and trail system including the Highline Canal trail.
- Respond promptly to resident complaints and inquiries regarding potential code violations while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Investigate and document findings through photographs, reports, and violation notices in accordance with established code and department standards.
- Conduct Stormwater inspections and responsible for Stormwater inspection submittals.
- Educate residents, property owners, and businesses on code requirements and work with the community to achieve voluntary compliance whenever possible.
- Initiate and follow up on enforcement actions, including preparing evidence and testimony for administrative hearings or court proceedings.
- Collaborate closely with City departments and external agencies to coordinate code compliance activities and resolve community concerns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of complaints, inspections, actions taken, and case outcomes.
- Responsible for conducting animal control duties.
Required Qualifications and Code Enforcement Officer Skills
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience in code enforcement, inspection, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to interpret and apply municipal codes, ordinances, and zoning regulations effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and public interaction.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions, and navigate various types of terrain as required during inspections.
- Proficiency in using computers, mobile devices, and standard office software applications.
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and objective decision-making abilities.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when dealing with challenging or confrontational situations.
